Job summary

Mars Incorporated in Chicago, IL is seeking an Accelerator Controller to ensure integrity and accuracy of the Mars Snacking segment financial statements. You will lead accounting and reporting activities, drive close processes, and own auditor relationships for the Business unit.

The role reports to the CFO and requires extensive experience in accounting/audit, leadership, and strong internal controls within a fast-paced consumer goods environment.

Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of accounting or financial audit experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a diverse team of Accounting and Reporting associates, with accountability for talent development, performance, and succession planning.
• Oversee periodic financial reviews to ensure the quality, completeness, and accuracy of financial statements.
• Implement new accounting standards and Finance Manual guidelines cross-functionally, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment across the Region.
• Set the tone for strong governance and controls execution, ensuring effective compliance with internal policies and control requirements.
• Certify and report financial results and control execution for senior management at Mars, Inc. and Mars Snacking Global.
• Partner with PwC and Internal Audit to support efficient, effective, and clean external and internal audit outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and drive greater efficiency, effectiveness, and quality.
• Manage performance between MGS-F/ICTC and the Region, driving accountability and continuous improvement across stakeholders.
• Serve as a member of the Region's Finance Leadership Team and contribute to broader finance strategy and decision-making.

Job Description:

The Accelerator Controller is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and quality of the Business Unit's financial statements. This role leads Accounting and reporting activities, drives strong period-close processes, and ensures reporting requirements are met for the Mars Snacking segment and Mars, Inc. Further, this individual is the primary owner of the relationship with internal and external auditors for the Business unit. Accelerator business: a global division within Mars Snacking, consisting of 5 different business units with 12 brands and a Net Sales of approximately $4B.

The position reports to the CFO for the Accelerator division and is based in Chicago, IL.

What are we looking for?

Required:

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. MS/MBA is a plus.
• 10+ years of accounting or financial audit experience.
• Experience in the consumer-packaged goods industry.
• Experience leading teams, including talent development and succession planning.
• Expertise in technical accounting, financial processes, and internal controls.
• Ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced business environment.

Preferred:

• CPA or other relevant professional certification.
• SAP or equivalent ERP system experience.
• Experience working at scale within a complex CPG organization.
• Knowledge of tax, treasury, and benefits management.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
