Job summary

A great UHY client is seeking a Controller with true controllership experience, strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills, and QuickBooks Online experience. The ideal candidate will lead all accounting activities, oversee the full accounting cycle, and partner with executive leadership to drive financial performance.

The role requires 5-7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience and 2-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.

  • Proven controllership experience, including general ledger oversight, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting and financial management activities for the organization.
  • Oversee the full accounting cycle, including general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Develop forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses to support business decisions.
  • Investigate financial variances, identify root causes, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Partner with executive leadership to support strategic planning and financial performance.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure operational and financial stability.
  • Support year-end close activities and coordinate with external accounting and tax partners.
  • Oversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Manage banking relationships, insurance partners, and other external financial stakeholders.
  • Review customer credit applications and monitor customer credit exposure.
  • Support inventory management activities and oversee annual inventory processes.
  • Prepare and process financial transactions, including payroll-related activities and vendor payments.
  • Support retirement plan reporting and employee benefit administration activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting function.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Provide financial data, reporting, and KPI analysis to support operational leaders.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
  • 2-3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Proven controllership experience, including general ledger oversight, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Strong ability to analyze financial results, investigate variances, and identify root causes of financial and operational issues.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to make recommendations based on financial data and trends.
  • Cost accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience overseeing month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Experience managing inventory-related accounting processes is preferred.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online is preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and accounting software.
  • Working knowledge of Plex is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
