FundThrough Inc. is seeking a hands-on, controls-minded finance leader to own internal controls across finance operations as the company scales, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

You will report to senior management and Founders, lead a four-person finance team, and oversee monthly close, regulatory filings, and cross-border reporting.

Qualifications

• US CPA with 8+ years as Controller, incl. 4+ years in finance at a factoring company or similar
• Experience leading, coaching and developing a small accounting team
• Hands-on experience designing, implementing and monitoring internal controls
• ERP experience (Dynamics GP)
• Experience in cross-border Consolidation of Financial Statements
• Experience preparing/regulatory filings across US states and Canadian provinces is a plus
• Interest in or experience with high-growth startups or tech companies
• Ability to analyze data and see the big picture
• Strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for scaling a business and contributing to growth

You will report to a member of our senior management team and have the opportunity to work closely with our Founders.

About The Company

FundThrough is a leading fintech company accelerating cash flow and enabling growth for small and medium-sized businesses that sell to large customers and wait to get paid. Based in Toronto and operating across North America, FundThrough’s AI-powered invoice funding platform gives B2B businesses fast, customized funding offers to get their invoices paid in a few days – rather than a few months – and get quick access to cash they’ve already earned.

Requirements

• A US CPA with track record of progressive accounting roles and responsibilities, including at 8+ years as a Controller, at least 4 years of which were in finance roles at a factoring company, lender or similar financial organization, ideally in a high-volume, high-value transaction environment (strongly preferred)
• Experience leading, coaching and developing a small accounting team, including managing through a team lead
• Hands-on experience designing, implementing and monitoring internal controls
• ERP experience (we use Microsoft Dynamics GP)
• Experience in preparing cross-border Consolidation of Financial Statements
• Experience preparing or reviewing regulatory filings across multiple US states and Canadian provinces is an asset
• An interest in or experience working with a high-growth start-up, small business or tech company
• Equal levels of comfort digging into data and looking at the bigger picture
• A love for “rolling up your sleeves”, exhibiting a strong work ethic to make things happen in a demanding, fast paced environment

Responsibilities

• Design and implement internal controls across finance operations, with a focus on client lending, funding and payment procedures, to ensure processes are efficient, effective and adequately controlled
• Lead, Manage and Develop a finance team of four: Team Lead, two Accounting Associates and an AP associate.
• Own the daily execution of cash release controls the tightest daily control point at FundThrough - ensuring every funding, payment and release is authorized, accurate and documented. Team Lead executes cash release.
• Establish ongoing monitoring and testing of control effectiveness, report exceptions and drive remediation
• Oversee standard monthly closing procedures, lead production of management and board reports (published for Founder review and final approval) and manage the relationship and ongoing communication with the audit firm
• Deliver monthly reporting to investors, lenders and strategic partners, taking over new reports once they have been developed (e.g. by Strategic Finance, the Data team or the CFO) and are repeatable
• Oversee the preparation and filing of regulatory reports to Federal and State/Provincial regulatory agencies (including filings to multiple US states, quarterly StatsCan reporting and information filings), ensuring they are accurate and on time, with filing decisions and final sign-off by the CFO; maintain the regulatory filing calendar so no obligation is missed
• Account for and execute cash movements in different currencies through several banking institutions, maintaining banking relationships and account access; execute daily facility draws and paydowns against the borrowing base; assist with forward-looking liquidity planning and FP&A, which are primarily the CFO’s responsibility, providing input and raising early flags on emerging cash issues
• Oversee the full accounting cycle, analysis of internal cost structure, management of financial systems and policies, lead changes and improvements as the business grows
• Oversee payroll accounting and processing in partnership with the People team, keep ESOP and cap table records (Carta) up to date and reconciled to the financial statements
