Job summary

Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino Lake Tahoe is seeking a Controller to oversee all casino finance and the Count Room, ensuring accurate accounting and regulatory compliance with the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

You will lead audits, manage month-end close, prepare gaming tax returns, and support budgeting. Strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to obtain a Nevada gaming registration are required. 21+ and a valid gaming license are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred and 5–10 years in casino finance or accounting.
• Experience managing teams and budgets with strong leadership.
• Ability to obtain Nevada Gaming Registration and meet age requirement (21).
• Knowledge of gaming accounting and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee casino audit and compile daily numbers for reporting.
• Manage month-end close of casino accounting records.
• Review balance sheet supporting documentation and tax returns.
• Respond to regulatory inquiries from Gaming Control Board and IRS.
• Lead annual budgeting and end-of-year filings.
• Sign checks and support internal controls.

In addition, the Controller will respond as required to internal/external auditors, regulatory agencies and tax authorities. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. – Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).

Overview

It is the responsibility of the Controller to oversee and administer all aspects and functionality of Casino Finance and Accounting and the Count Room. In addition, the Controller will respond as required to internal/external auditors, regulatory agencies and tax authorities. Responsibilities

• Oversee Casino Audit in the performance of daily work and compilation of numbers for the daily operating report.
• Manage the month-end closing of the casino accounting records.
• Review supporting documentation for balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare monthly gaming tax returns, quarterly and annual licenses.
• Respond to questions and requests from the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Internal Revenue Service, Internal/External Auditors and other regulatory agencies.
• Review and sign checks as requested.
• Participate in the annual budgeting process
• Prepare end of year filings including W-2G’s and 1042’s.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

• Computer literate in Microsoft Windows and Excel applications.
• Knowledge of accounting/auditing functions and knowledge of Gaming Control Board Minimum Internal Control Standards.
• Knowledge of Count Room procedures and accounting for gaming revenues.
• Knowledge of cage transactions and procedures.
• Knowledge of casino department’s revenue transactions and procedures.
• Must be able to obtain a Nevada Gaming Registration.
• Minimum age requirement of 21.
• PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES A GAMING LICENSE BY THE NEVADA GAMING CONTROL BOARD

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s or related degree preferred

5-10 years progressive experience, including holding managerial roles, in or related to casino finance & accounting.

Must be able to speak and understand English.

Physical Demands

• Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods of time.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
• Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds.
• Constantly walking up to distances of 500 ft. during shift.
• Frequently stooping, reaching.

Work Environment

• Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. There are occasional hot and cold temperature changes.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment.
• Work with others in close spaces.
• Moderate to high noise levels.
• Walk/stand on tile/mats/carpet/cement.
