CFS seeks an experienced Interim Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a growing construction services company in Springfield, TN. This hands-on role focuses on WIP reporting, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting to drive profitability and provide strategic financial insight.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in construction accounting leadership, a CPA is highly desired, and the ability to work onsite Monday through Friday 7:30 AM–4:30 PM.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA preferred.
• 5+ years in controller or senior accounting leadership within construction.

Mansioni

• Oversee all accounting and finance functions including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and month-end close.
• Prepare and analyze WIP schedules and reports.
• Manage job costing and ensure accurate project financial reporting.
• Oversee % of completion accounting and revenue recognition for construction projects.
• Produce timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Monitor project profitability, cash flow, budgets, and performance metrics.
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and compliance.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Partner with operations and project management for forecasting and planning.
• Provide weekly WIP billing reports to CEO.
• Complete monthly close within 10 days.

Key Responsibilities – Controller

• Oversee all accounting and finance functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
• Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and reports.
• Manage job costing processes and ensure accurate project financial reporting.
• Oversee percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition for construction projects.
• Produce timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Monitor project profitability, cash flow, budgets, and financial performance metrics.
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
• Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
• Partner with operations and project management teams to support forecasting and strategic planning.
• Supply weekly reports to CEO on work in progress billing
• Complete monthly close (10-day closing)
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff.

Qualifications - Controller

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA highly desired
• 5+ years of Controller or senior-level accounting leadership experience within the construction industry.
• Required: Proven construction industry background with expertise in WIP reporting, job costing, billing, report generation, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Strong understanding of construction financial statements, project accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
• Proficiency with construction accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Foundation and HH2 software highly desired: Similar to Sage
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Must have clear background and pass drug screen (will test for THC)
• Ability to work on-site in Springfield, TN, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
