Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Controller for a construction industry client in New Jersey. The role requires 5+ years in construction or HVAC, with private equity-backed experience preferred, and an onsite work arrangement five days a week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction or HVAC construction.
• Some private equity-backed experience.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Exceptional accounting acumen and knowledge of US GAAP for US corporations.
• Experience in SaaS or technology companies with ARR-based business models is strongly preferred.

Controller out of the Construction Industry

Our construction client is looking for a Controller with at least 5 years of experience in construction or HVAC construction. The ideal candidate will have some private equity-backed experience. This position is onsite 5 days a week! Local candidates only

Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Lead and manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes


• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules


• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP


• Manage a team of 3-4 in accounting


• Assist with financial statements for a PE-backed company


• Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll recording, fixed assets, and expense reporting


• Drive continuous improvement across accounting processes, systems, and reporting


• Have experience with Work in Progress and WIP accounting software.


• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required


• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role


• Exceptional accounting acumen and knowledge * Proficient understanding and execution of all US GAAP requirements for US corporations


• Experience in SaaS or technology companies with ARR-based business models strongly preferred * Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP financial reporting standards
