Job summary

Paradigm Mechanical Corp. in Santee, CA is seeking an experienced construction controller to lead the accounting department. You will report to the CEO and oversee payroll, HR in their own seats, while driving the entire function.

Responsibilities include month-end close for two brands, weekly WIP, job costing, cash forecasting, and the start-to-finish federal billing process. Must have 8+ years in construction accounting and leadership experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in construction accounting.
• 3+ years in a controller or assistant controller role.
• Experience leading a team.
• Federal billing experience; CPA or CCIFP are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close for both brands and weekly WIP; manage job costing across construction and service.
• Lead billing from start to finish including federal/WAWF; ensure compliance and provide leadership-level reporting.

We're a mechanical contractor in San Diego - $18-24M in commercial and federal construction, plus a refrigeration service company we acquired two years ago. Fifteen years in, built from the ground up. Two brands, one team.

Our purpose is simple: we solve complex challenges for our clients in ways others can't or won't.

We're hiring an experienced construction controller to lead our accounting department. You'll report directly to the CEO, with payroll and HR in their own seats, so you're leading the function instead of buried in it.

You'll own:

month-end close for both brands, the weekly WIP, job costing across construction and service, cash forecasting and collections, billing start to finish (including federal/WAWF), compliance, and the reporting our leadership team actually runs on.

You need:

8+ years in construction accounting with 3+ as a controller or assistant controller, deep WIP and job costing experience, certified payroll and prevailing wage, advanced Excel, and experience leading a team. Federal billing, ComputerEase, CPA or CCIFP are all pluses.
