Job summary

LeoForce is seeking a Permanent Controller in California to lead financial management, accounting, reporting, budgeting, and internal controls for a growing construction team. The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to drive strategic financial decisions across the organization.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in financial control, with proficiency in QuickBooks and a solid grasp of cost control, forecasting, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; Master's or CPA a plus.
  • 5+ years as Financial Controller or in equivalent finance roles.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience creating financial statements and GL functions.
  • Excellent QuickBooks skills and financial systems proficiency.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation.
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.

Job Details

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permanent Controller to join our dynamic team in the Construction Industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. This position plays a critical role in strategic decision-making and operations as it provides financial oversight and guidance to the management team.

Qualifications

  • Proven working experience as a Financial Controller with 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
  • Excellent accounting software user administration skills, with proficiency in QuickBooks.
  • Strong understanding of WIP schedules, budgeting, cost control, financial analysis, financial reporting, project management, risk management, forecasting, contract management, and performance management.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of management, staff, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence - ability to motivate staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team management skills.
