BioFire Diagnostics in Salt Lake City, UT, seeks a Finance Controller to partner with instruments, MEQ, and manufacturing operations at the SLC site. You will drive the site budget, forecast, and financial controls, ensuring compliance with group procedures and timely deliverables.

You will analyze monthly OPEX, CAPEX, and headcount, develop KPIs, challenge investments, and support cross-functional projects, with emphasis on inventory accuracy and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 5+ years of experience in Finance, including experience in audit, internal audit, and operational management control.
• Experience in manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive the forecast and budget processes for the Salt Lake City site within the Group budget framework and meet deadlines.
• Analyze monthly reporting (OPEX, CAPEX, HC) to anticipate drift or opportunities and propose corrective actions.
• Develop KPIs to monitor site performance and benchmark against internal or external references.
• Approve and challenge investments and purchases requests.
• Ensure accurate calculation and analysis of manufacturing standard costs and continuous improvement measures.
• Ensure inventory valuation accuracy and participate in regular financial audits and physical inventories.
• Contribute to risk management and internal controls, and train staff as needed.
• Support site projects with economic/ad hoc studies and IS project implementations.

Job description

The Controller serves as the finance business partner supporting the instruments, MEQ, and Non-standard manufacturing operations and the support functions of the SLC site.

• Drive the forecast and budget processes for the site within the framework of the Group budget process and guarantee the respect of deadlines, procedures, and deliverables.
• Establish control and analyze the monthly reporting (OPEX, CAPEX and HC…) within the deadline to anticipate any potential drift or opportunity (budget overspending, delay in projects…). Alert the site management and propose the necessary corrective actions. Guarantee the respect of the corporate procedure within his/her area of responsibility: analytical allocations, accounting rules, provisions, investments and tax rules.
• Develop Key performance metrics in order to facilitate the follow-up of the site performance. Propose concrete solutions and improvements to optimize the financial performance of the site. Benchmark as much as possible with comparable activities, internally or externally.
• Approve and challenge the investments/purchases requests.
• Ensure the proper calculation and analysis of the manufacturing standard costs (for current and budget period).
• Ensure the proper calculation and analysis of the continuous improvements measures (for current, forecast and budget period).
• Ensure accuracy of inventory values and perform financial audit and physical inventory on a regular basis.
• Develop the Risk Management Approach and implement the internal controls within his/her area of responsibility. Contribute to new procedures definition in collaboration with other finance departments. Perform necessary trainings.
• Actively contribute to the projects of the site by producing or by validating the economic/ad’ hoc studies.
• Actively participate to the implementation of the Information Systems projects (and any other project) impacting his/her area of responsibility.
• Responsible for analyzing, reconciling and reviewing inventory valuation reports.
• Performs account analysis and reconciliations.
• Be able to share best practices with other US Sites.

Education, Skills, & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required with 5+ years of experience in Finance, including experience inaudit, internal audit, and operational management control

Preferred:

• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in Controlling
• Experience in an international environment
• Data Analysis experience
• SAP experience

The estimated salary range for this role based in Utah is between $90,600 – 135,800. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
