Job summary

The Controller leads the Fiscal Operations team at the Arizona Department of Transportation, overseeing Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Financial Reporting. This role ensures agency compliance with GAAP and federal/state requirements while developing financial policies and internal controls.

The position provides executive leadership recommendations on succession planning, training, and strategic improvements for the department's fiscal operations.

Qualifications

• GAAP knowledge and compliance expertise.
• Experience directing financial staff through managerial leadership.
• Proficiency with automated accounting systems including AZ360 and procurement portals.
• Strong analytical, communication, and financial reporting skills.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA or CGFM certification preferred.
