Job summary

Gridless is seeking its first dedicated finance leader to own the numbers and elevate the finance function as the company scales.

As Controller, you will lead the monthly close, cash flow forecasting, and investor updates, while building robust processes and controls from the ground up. This hands-on role reports to the President and offers ownership from day one and substantial growth potential.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally as an Accounting Manager or the #1 finance person at a small company.
• Strong U.S. GAAP and full-cycle close expertise.
• Track record building financial processes and controls from scratch.
• Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance; CPA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close and produce accurate, timely financials (U.S. GAAP).
• Strengthen and modernize our Accounting environment.
• Own cash flow management, forecasting, and regular reporting to leadership.
• Build financial processes and controls from the ground up.
• Prepare investor and board updates.
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations and mentor our full-time bookkeeper.
• Coordinate with our outside tax firm and partner with leadership on operational finance decisions.

We're looking for our first dedicated finance leader - someone who wants to own the numbers, not just report them.

Gridless is a rapidly growing battery technology company building next-generation, sustainable off-grid power solutions for organizations that need reliable energy where the grid can't reach - trusted by first responders, utilities, government, and the U.S. military for over a decade. We're expanding fast and building the financial foundation to scale - and we want an experienced Controller to lead it.

What you'll own

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role reporting to the company President. You'll take our books from good to great, give leadership a clear view of cash and performance, and build the processes that let us scale with confidence. Specifically, you'll:

• Own the monthly close and produce accurate, timely financials (U.S. GAAP)
• Strengthen and modernize our Accounting environment
• Own cash flow management, forecasting, and regular reporting to leadership
• Build financial processes and controls from the ground up
• Prepare investor and board updates
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations and mentor our full-time bookkeeper
• Coordinate with our outside tax firm and partner with leadership on operational finance decisions
