Job summary

The Quest Organization Inc, a family-owned real estate company based in Omaha, NE, seeks a Controller to lead the accounting function for self-managed properties and corporate entities as it continues its growth trajectory.

You will oversee month-end close in Yardi, review AP and reconciliations, and coordinate lender reporting and tax work with an outside CPA. Strong attention to detail and independence are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of property accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently within established processes.

• Review accounting team work, including bank reconciliations, AP, cash activity, and supporting documentation.
• Review financials from third-party property managers and prepare construction draw packages for development projects.
• Prepare lender reporting and coordinate year-end tax work with outside CPA firm.
• Oversee the accounting team and maintain accounting policies and internal controls.

Our client is a family-owned real estate company based in Omaha, NE that invests in, develops, and manages apartment and build-to-rent communities across the U.S. The Controller will work directly with the firm’s principals to lead the accounting function and support the company’s continued growth

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close for self-managed properties and corporate entities in Yardi, including journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and monthly financial reporting.
• Review accounting team work, including bank reconciliations, AP, cash activity, and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Review financials from third-party property managers and prepare construction draw packages for development projects.
• Prepare lender reporting, support investor distributions and cash management, and coordinate year-end tax work with the outside CPA firm.
• Oversee the accounting team and establish/maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of property accounting experience or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to work independently within established processes.
• Experience with Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, and/or AppFolio preferred.
• Ability to review financial information, identify discrepancies, and make well-supported decisions.
