Location:Hybrid (4 days in person, 1 day remote per week)

Salary Range:$175,000 - $225,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

The Controller will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvement—while partnering closely with the CEO, Head of People, and our PE sponsor to support disciplined growth.

What You'll Do

Leadership
  • Fully own the finance department, overseeing the accounting, FP&A functions and cash management
  • Act as a thought partner to leadership on financial discipline, visibility, and decision-making to shape the long term strategy
  • Engender financial rigor and discipline throughout the organization
  • Manage outsourced bookkeeping resources
  • Build scalable processes for a growing footprint (new openings, transitions, integrations)
  • Server as primary point of contact for Private Equity sponsor
Accounting
  • Own the weekly and monthly close process, ensuring timely, accurate financial statements
  • Maintain and enforce accounting policies, controls, and documentation
  • Lead school-level budgeting process
  • Manage Department of Education finance relationship
  • Coordinate with external partners (audit, tax, payroll providers)
Operations
  • Partner with school leaders and central teams to ensure clean, consistent financial inputs across locations
  • Help heads of schools identify opp
  • Support location-level P&Ls, cost tracking, and variance analysis
FP&A / Reporting
  • Prepare weekly monthly reporting packages for the CEO and private equity partner
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and 13 week cash-flow planning in partnership with CEO
  • Lead ad hoc analysis as needed

What we're looking for:

  • Revenue recognition experience in a tuition or membership-based business (deferred revenue, accruals, recognition over time)
  • Expertise in Excel / Google Sheets
  • QuickBooks experience is a plus
