Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of accounting experience within organizations with leadership responsibility.
  • Experience as accounting manager or financial analyst in manufacturing or related company with annual revenues over $200+ million.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience driving process and systems improvement in accounting, reporting and forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Own general accounting, monthly close, consolidation and reporting, and related tax/insurance responsibilities.
  • Lead and develop a team of 4 professionals in General Accounting, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Manage the closing process and annual external audit coordination.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and notes for external and internal stakeholders (Board and lenders).
  • Support development of systems and processes to improve productivity and integrity of financial reporting.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Controller for The Company, responsible for performing the accounting functions of general accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable of the business as well as consolidation and GAAP/Non-GAAP reporting (BS, PL, CF) for internal and external purposes. This role is also responsible for income and non-income related taxes and business insurance. More broadly, this role is responsible for leading process and systems improvement in matters affecting accounting, reporting and forecasting

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ownership of general accounting, monthly close, consolidation and reporting, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, income and non-income-related taxes and insurance.
Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness:
  • Supervise, train, and develop a team of 4 professionals in the areas of General Accounting, Accounts Payable and Credit and Accounts Receivable.
  • Leads the closing process
  • Leads the annual external audit process
General Accounting:
  • Manages the month-end closing process for all general accounting activities.
  • Includes, but not limited to, cash, intercompany, accruals, debt-related, leases, intangibles, asset retirement obligations, hedge accounting.
  • G/L account and sub-ledger reconciliations.
Consolidation and Financial Statement Preparation and Reporting:
  • Performs consolidation of financial statements, including intercompany reconciliation and foreign currency translation processes.
  • Preparation of financial statements on a monthly basis for external constituents; on a quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) basis both of which included preparation of note disclosure to the financial statements.
  • Assist in the monthly preparation of financial information to be presented to the Board of Directors and financial institutions.
  • Participates in the development of financial systems, data and reporting to drive productivity and integrity in the financial reporting environment.
Accounts Payable:
  • Responsible for supplier payment process, including invoice processing, annual 1099 process and day-to-day problem solving.
  • Prepares disbursement forecast for weekly cash flow forecast process
  • Collaborates with Procurement team to develop and implement strategy for procure to pay process and systems improvements as well as maintaining a strong internal control environment
Credit and Accounts Receivable:
  • Responsible for customer credit and collections process, including establishment and monitoring of and exceptions to credit limits.
  • Coordination with commercial leaders and supply chain on customer acquisition and set up, sales forecast by customer in order to ensure timely assessment of credit issues or changes
  • Proactive interaction with key customers in the collection of accounts receivable and management of past due amounts
  • Prepares collection forecast for weekly cash flow forecast process
  • Collaborates with commercial and supply chain teams to develop and implement strategy for order to cash process and systems improvements as well as maintaining a strong internal control environment
  • Supports the annual external audit process, which is led by the Controller/Treasurer.
KEY SKILLS (Must have):
  • Strong knowledge and experience in generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Strong financial acumen and analysis capability with the ability to clearly relate financial information to business strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience in all areas of responsibility for this role.
  • Demonstrated experience in process and systems improvement in the areas in the scope of this role.
  • Forecasting and budgeting experience
  • Very proficient in all MS suite of tools, especially excel, power BI and related add-ons
  • Bias for action
  • Exceptional leadership ability with a focus on continuous improvement in people, processes and systems
  • Critical thinking, strategic mind-set with the ability to enroll others and translate that to execution and action
  • Ability and eagerness to partner with various members of the organization both within and outside of Finance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Must have):
  • Minimum 10 years of accounting experience within organizations with direct experience in the areas within the scope of this role, including leadership
  • Experience working as an accounting manager or financial analyst within a manufacturing or related company with annual revenues of over $200+ million.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred):
  • Experience working in private equity owned and publicly-traded organizations.
  • 5+ years' experience as a financial manager within a manufacturing organization.
  • Experience with the analysis of M&A activities a plus.
  • Experience in the chemical industry a plus
EDUCATION:
  • Minimum Required: B.S. degree in Accounting or other business-related field
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration, CPA, or CMA
