Job summary

A Metairie, Louisiana-based, family-owned, multi-entity organization is seeking an experienced Controller for its corporate accounting team. This hands-on leadership role oversees the accounting operations of multiple affiliated entities and drives the monthly close, financial reporting, and internal controls.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting, at least seven years of progressive accounting experience, and prior controller-level leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting leadership role is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close for multiple affiliated entities.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, reconciliations, and consolidated reporting.
• Oversee intercompany transactions, cash management, and payroll processes.
• Supervise accounting staff and develop the team.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable and general ledger activities.
• Coordinate annual open enrollment and employee benefits administration.
• Interface with external tax advisors and support audits.
• Lead budgeting and quarterly board reporting for CFO review.
• Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes.

Job description

An established, family-owned, multi-entity organization is seeking an experienced Controller for its corporate accounting team in Metairie. This is a broad, hands-on leadership role with responsibility for the accounting operations of multiple affiliated entities.

Responsibilities

• Leading the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for multiple affiliated entities
• Preparing and reviewing financial statements, management reports, account reconciliations, and consolidated reporting
• Managing intercompany transactions and overseeing cash management
• Supervising and developing accounting staff
• Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities
• Managing the outsourced payroll process and related accounting
• Administering employee benefits and coordinating annual open enrollment
• Handling light HR administration, including onboarding, employee records, policies, and compliance
• Preparing annual 1099 reporting and coordinating insurance audits
• Serving as the primary liaison with the company’s outside tax advisors
• Taking ownership of budgeting and preparing quarterly Board reporting for the CFO’s review
• Strengthening internal controls and improving accounting processes and workflows
• Supporting financial analysis and special projects for senior management
