Job summary

RouteGenie is seeking a Controller to own the financial operations as it scales, leading a small team and coordinating with external partners in a growth-stage environment.

You will close books, report to leadership, and build controls and processes that scale with the company’s growth. This hybrid Nashville role offers substantial ownership and a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• 7+ years accounting experience including 2–3 years in Controller or senior leadership roles
• Experience at a growth-stage SaaS or technology company is required
• Solid understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition
• Experience leading close processes and building controls infrastructure
• Comfortable managing a small team and external partners
• Excel fluency and financial modeling/variance analysis
• Healthcare tech or transportation/logistics software experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Own month-end and year-end close from start to finish
• Oversee general ledger integrity
• Prepare financial reporting for leadership and external stakeholders
• Perform budget vs. actual analyses with meaningful commentary
• Design internal controls and ensure compliance
• Coordinate audits with external auditors
• Coordinate tax with outside advisors
• Lead AR/AP through a small team and external bookkeeping firm
• Manage deferred revenue and revenue recognition

RouteGenie is a modern, all-in-one software platform designed for medical transportation providers. We help businesses streamline and automate routing, scheduling, dispatching, billing, and fleet management—empowering them to reduce costs, improve on-time performance, and deliver better service to their customers and communities.

We’re looking for a Controller to own our financial operations as we scale. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a high-ownership environment — someone who can create the financial structure, close the books, build the right controls, and also sit in a room with the CEO and translate the numbers into decisions. You\'ll oversee a small but capable team and work closely with our external bookkeeping and accounting partners to keep everything running cleanly.

This role is right for someone who has done this before at a growth-stage company and knows what good looks like — and who wants room to actually build it.

This is a hybrid position (4 days in office, 1 day remote) in Nashville. The salary range is $130,000-150,000 based on experience, plus an annual bonus opportunity.

What You’ll Do

• Month-end and year-end close — own the full process, top to bottom
• General ledger oversight and integrity
• Financial reporting for internal leadership and any external stakeholders
• Budget vs. actuals analysis with meaningful commentary
• Internal controls design and compliance
• Audit preparation and external auditor coordination
• Tax coordination with outside advisors
• AR/AP team leadership (team of 2 + external bookkeeping firm)
• Deferred revenue and revenue recognition
• Investor relations with external capital providers for finance and tax related items

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2-3 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role. CPA preferred, or strong desire to achieve soon.
• Experience at a growth-stage SaaS or technology company, required
• Solid understanding of deferred revenue and revenue recognition (ASC 606), required
• Proficient in modern accounting systems and experiencing leading an accounting system migration, a plus. (ex. QBO, Ramp, Salesforce, Stripe, Sage, NetSuite)
• Proven experience managing close processes and building controls infrastructure
• Comfortable managing a small team and external partners
• Strong judgment — knows when to escalate and when to just get it done
• Excel fluency; comfort with financial modeling and variance analysis
• Experience in healthcare technology or transportation/logistics software is a plus.
