Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 2-3 years in a supervisory role, preferably in healthcare.
  • Deep, hands-on general ledger experience (Sage Intacct preferred), including multi-entity consolidations, dimensions, reporting, and workflow configuration.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and healthcare industry accounting.
  • Proven people-management experience with building and developing accounting teams.

Job description

Our healthcare client is seeking a Controller to own the integrity of the organization's accounting processes/controls and general ledger infrastructure. This role is responsible for the monthly close process in Sage Intacct, ensuring timely and GAAP-compliant financial statements across all entities and lines of business, including value-based care (VBC) contracts and fee-for-service operations. This role also partners with internal stakeholders to understand reporting needs and lead process improvement and automation initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of such reporting from Sage Intacct and other relevant systems.

What You Will Do:
Systems & Process
  • Serve as the organization's primary subject matter expert and administrator for Sage Intacct, including entity structure, dimensions, custom reporting, and system integrations.
  • Lead process improvement and automation initiatives to drive more efficient and effective reporting to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the close calendar, supporting documentation, and audit-readiness of the accounting function.
  • Design, implement, and monitor internal controls over financial reporting and ensure compliance with company policy and accounting guidelines.
  • Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process in Sage Intacct, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are accurate and complete.
  • Review consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows) across multiple entities and lines of business.
  • Direct and review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition across multiple revenue streams, including value-based care (VBC) contracts and fee-for-service arrangements, and associated provider compensation and affiliate distributions.
  • Analyze monthly financial results, summarize key variances and trends, and lead discussions of such variances and trends with relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop, document, and enforce accounting policies and procedures in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Lead the annual financial statement audit process, serving as a key point of contact with external auditors.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of staff accountants, senior accountants, and accounting supervisors with the mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Set clear close calendars, quality standards, and maintains accountability across the accounting team.
Other
  • Partner with FP&A on annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Support due diligence, integration accounting, and purchase accounting for acquisitions as the organization grows.
  • Present financial results, key metrics, and accounting matters to internal stakeholders, as needed.
  • Additional ad hoc responsibilities as assigned.
What You Need:
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 2-3 years in a supervisory-level role, preferably in healthcare.
  • Deep, hands-on general ledger experience (preferably with Sage Intacct), including multi-entity consolidations, dimensions, custom reporting, and workflow configuration.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and healthcare industry accounting.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, drive process improvement, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, growing organization.
  • Proven people-management experience, with a track record of building, leading, and developing high-performing accounting teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
