Job Description

Position: Controller

Location: Mount Arlington, NJ (2 days in office)

Compensation: 130-180K + bonus

POSITION SUMMARY

The Controller, reporting directly to the CFO, is responsible for driving the efficiency, accuracy, and impact of the Accounting & Finance function. This role oversees the Company's accounting operations, including the preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements. The Controller will strengthen internal controls, streamline reporting processes, and enhance documentation of core financial functions. This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with regular in-person attendance required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee all financial activities, including accounting operations and preparation of accrual- and GAAP-basis financial statements.
• Ensure timely, accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including creation and posting of prepaid and accrual journal entries.
• Partner with Human Resources to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance with state tax laws.
• Guide and support the accounting team in applying sound accounting principles and industry best practices.
• Maintain and recommend internal financial controls and clear separation of duties to safeguard assets, enforce policies, and optimize workflows.
• Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, tracking key performance metrics.
• Ensure accurate accrual accounting allocations, complete all account reconciliations, and oversee accounts payable, revenue tracking, and accounts receivable management.
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, efficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate with external accountants and support annual tax and audit processes (including income tax, sales tax, workers' compensation, 401(k), and compliance requirements).
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including tax filings (sales and payroll) and annual census submissions.
• Support the department in meeting critical deadlines and achieving organizational objectives.
• Evaluate and recommend process improvements to increase operational efficiency and financial accuracy.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA preferred
