Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required or equivalent
• 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in banking, public accounting or financial services
• CPA preferred but not required; strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, and cash management activities.
• Manage the financial close process and ensure accurate reporting.
• Review preparation of standard and ad-hoc journal entries.
• Ensure balance sheet reconciliations align with internal controls and policy.
• Prepare Financials and close out books for bank activities related to bank products.
• Conduct variance analyses and investigate unusual transactions.
• Provide financial analysis to management and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accounting for bank’s investment portfolio.

Summary

As an integral part of Broadstreet Bank’s Accounting team, the Controller reports to the CFO and contributes significantly to the accuracy, integrity, and optimization of the Bank’s financial records. This role leads monthly close and reporting processes by recording, classifying, summarizing, analyzing, documenting and reporting on transactions resulting from business operations. The Controller brings strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and excels in proactive planning, multitasking, organization, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, and cash management activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage the financial close process to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee and review preparation of standard and ad‑hoc journal entries as required.
• Review reconciliation of balance sheet accounts in accordance with internal controls standards established by policy.
• Prepare Financials and close out books for the bank making entries for activities directly related to bank products.
• Perform analytical procedures including investigation of unusual transactions or unexpected variances in monthly fluctuation analyses.
• Perform research and providing financial analysis to management and other users of financial information.
• Perform accounting and analysis related to the bank’s investment portfolio.
• Own the implementation and maintenance of effective processes and procedures for completing and improving work. Recommend process improvement opportunities to current accounting systems and processes.
• Assist with updates of policies and procedure documentation.
• Prepare audit work papers and schedules as required for the bank and work directly with external auditors, regulatory agencies, and internal auditors.
• Work cross‑functionally with other bank departments.
• Work on ad hoc reporting, analysis and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
• Work Experience: 4–5 years of relevant experience, with a preference for candidates coming from banking, public accounting or financial services.
• Certifications: CPA preferred but not required.
• Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Requires the highest level of integrity and sound judgment, especially when handling confidential or sensitive information.
• Requires strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Understanding banking regulations is a plus.
• Excellent analytical abilities with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
• Ability to identify and implement process enhancements demonstrates strong business acumen and professionalism.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex financial concepts across all levels of the organization.
• Skilled in managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and driving projects to completion.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
