The role leads accounting and finance, drives GAAP reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, and supports succession planning toward the CFO position. The ideal candidate will guide strategic financial initiatives and build a high-performing team.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Experience in Controller/Director of Accounting leadership roles
  • Strong GAAP and financial reporting expertise
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and P&L analysis
  • Experience leading accounting/finance teams
  • ERP/accounting systems experience
  • Knowledge of tax accounting and cost accounting

Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting and finance functions including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
  • Oversee preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting per GAAP
  • Manage cash flow, treasury activities, banking relationships, and liquidity
  • Lead annual budgeting process and develop forecasts for business planning
  • Analyze financial performance, trends, margins, expenses, and key metrics to improve profitability
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes
  • Provide financial insight and strategic guidance to executive leadership
  • Oversee risk management, regulatory compliance, and other financial requirements
  • Support strategic growth initiatives including potential acquisitions
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team
  • Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and accountability
  • Oversee payroll, tax, cost accounting, and other financial functions
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, and processes

Job description

Arkansas Talent Group is partnering with a well-established, industrial manufacturing company Little Rock, AR to identify an experienced Corporate Controller to join its leadership team.

This is a key financial leadership role with responsibility for the company's accounting and financial reporting functions while partnering closely with executive leadership. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting foundation along with experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, internal controls, and financial analysis.

Importantly, this role is part of the company's long-term succession plan to the CFO position. The organization is looking for someone who can first learn the business, build strong relationships across the company, and establish themselves as a trusted financial leader, with the opportunity to ultimately step into the CFO role.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead the company's accounting and finance functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage cash flow, treasury activities, banking relationships, and overall liquidity
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and develop financial forecasts and projections to support business planning
  • Analyze financial performance, trends, margins, expenses, and key metrics to identify opportunities to improve profitability
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes
  • Provide financial insight and strategic guidance to executive leadership to support key business decisions
  • Oversee risk management, regulatory compliance, and other financial requirements of the organization
  • Support strategic growth initiatives, including business development and potential acquisition opportunities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team
  • Partner with operational leaders across the organization to improve financial performance and accountability
  • Oversee payroll, tax, cost accounting, and other financial functions as applicable
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, processes, and overall efficiency
What You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including experience in a Controller, Director of Accounting/Finance, or similar leadership role
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP with significant experience in financial reporting and financial statement analysis
  • Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and P&L analysis
  • Proven experience leading and developing accounting and finance teams
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems, internal controls, and financial process improvement
  • Knowledge of tax accounting and cost accounting
  • Strong business acumen, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to be both strategic and hands‑on and partner effectively across the organization
