Job summary

Vaco in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Controller to lead all accounting and finance functions for the facility. You will own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, drive reporting accuracy, manage budgeting and forecasting, and partner with operations to improve profitability.

The role requires 5+ years in progressive accounting, manufacturing/operational accounting experience, and strong ERP/Excel skills. CPA/CMA/MBA preferred; on-site collaboration with executive leadership is essential.

• Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost accounting

• Previous Controller experience or readiness to step into a Controller role is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and finance functions for the facility, serving as the primary financial partner to executive and operational leadership
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate financial reporting and timely analysis
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and variance analysis while providing actionable recommendations to improve profitability
• Manage cost accounting, inventory valuation, labor and material variances, and manufacturing performance metrics
• Develop financial dashboards, KPIs, and management reports to support strategic decision-making
• Partner with operations to identify cost-saving initiatives, improve efficiencies, and support capital investment decisions
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and compliance while supporting audits and regulatory reporting
• Supervise and develop one accounting team member while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
