Job summary

Kids for the Future seeks a Controller to support the CFO in managing accounting and financial reporting functions. You will supervise the Accounting Department, oversee fixed assets, payables, journal entries, month-end close, and regulatory reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Ideal candidates have a BS in Accounting or Business, 5+ years of accounting experience with CPA preferred, and strong Excel and accounting software skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Accounting Department.

• Ensure internal controls and GAAP compliance across accounting functions.
• Assist with regulatory reporting and audits as needed.
• Provide support to multiple office locations and management.

Description

The Controller is responsible for supporting the CFO in ensuring the effective operation of the accounting and financial reporting functions by performing or supervising various accounting duties. This includes managing fixed assets, prepaid accounts, accounts payable, financial statement review and analysis, reviewing and certifying GL accounts, assisting with quarterly regulatory reporting, accrual review, assisting with tax reporting, audits, internal controls, and other accounting-related analysis as needed. The Controller also manages the daily operations of the Accounting Department, ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards and banking regulations, and provides leadership to the accounting team.

Requirements

• BS in Accounting or Business
• 5 years or more accounting experience (Bank Preferred)
• Knowledge of preparing financial statements, including audited financial statements
• Knowledge of GAAP and banking regulations preferred
• Experience with regulatory reporting preferred
• Strong PC skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
• Experience with accounting software and financial systems preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Leadership experience with the ability to supervise and develop staff
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality
• CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred
