Job summary

ALCO Designs is seeking a detail-oriented Controller to oversee all financial operations for a growing manufacturing company. This hands-on role covers accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls in a small-business environment.

You will supervise staff, partner with production to analyze costs and margins, and provide timely, accurate financial insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance is required; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory control.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting ERP systems; advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a small-company environment and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting ops including GL, AP, AR, collections, and banking.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain cost accounting records: inventory valuation and COGS.
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare cash forecasts.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze results for variances and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and coordinate with CPA for filings.
  • Strengthen internal controls and procedures.
  • Lead and develop accounting staff; communicate financial performance.

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Controller to oversee all financial operations for our growing manufacturing company. This position plays a key role in managing accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is hands-on, able to work independently, and comfortable supporting both high-level financial strategy and day-to-day accounting tasks in a small business environment.

Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and banking.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain accurate cost accounting records, including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and margin analysis.
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare cash forecasts.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Analyze financial results to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or efficiency improvements.
  • Provide financial insight to support business planning and decision-making.
Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable tax, labor, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external CPA firm for tax filings, audits, and year-end reporting.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
Leadership
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to align financial goals with operational objectives.
  • Provide clear and timely communication of financial performance and recommendations to management.
Operations Support
  • Partner with production and operations teams to analyze manufacturing costs, inventory levels, and process efficiencies.
  • Support purchasing, pricing, and cost analysis decisions.
  • Implement and improve financial systems and reporting tools.
