GEMCH hospital in El Monte, CA seeks a Controller to lead general accounting, payroll, and accounts payable, ensuring accurate financial statements and robust internal controls. You will drive process improvements, maintain timely reporting, develop staff, and ensure compliance with policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred).
  • 5-7 years accounting experience, 3 years supervisory.
  • Healthcare or public accounting audits experience (highly desirable).
  • Experience in multi-corporate organizations with in-house systems (preferred).
  • Strong oral/written communication for training and inter-department interaction.
  • Analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced Excel and strong word processing; PowerPoint preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train accounting, payroll, and AP staff and align activities with divisional priorities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily and monthly routines; assign projects and manage schedules.
  • Evaluate current recording procedures to reduce time and cost.
  • Prepare and review financial reports; perform month-end close and ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and analyses for accuracy and policy compliance.
  • Review payroll and AP controls to ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate annual operating and capital budget, audits, and OSHPD reports.
  • Maintain up-to-date procedure manuals for staff guidance.
  • Analyze financial data for CFO and management; support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor systems to assess department output quality and quantity.
  • Implement staff development plans and promote internal advancement.
  • Provide guidance and resolve routine staff questions; supervise HR-related activities.
  • Ensure operational excellence and adherence to policies and standards.
  • Communicate department and industry information to staff.
  • Achieve organizational goals within specified timeframes.
  • Participate in safety training and follow exposure control plans.
  • Promote professional environment and collaborative inter-departmental relations
