Job summary

Cascadia Healthcare, a leading healthcare provider, seeks an experienced Controller to oversee accounting and financial reporting across multiple states. Reporting to the CFO, you will modernize processes, strengthen internal controls, and guide audit activities while supporting growth and acquisitions.

Ideal candidates bring 15+ years of senior accounting leadership, CPA, and deep GAAP expertise within regulated environments. Boise area preferred, with periodic onsite presence required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting, or similar senior accounting leader in a large, complex organization.
  • Experience supporting organizations with significant scale, preferably $500M+ to $1B+ in annual revenue.
  • Healthcare, post-acute care, skilled nursing, senior living, hospital, physician practice, or similarly regulated industry experience strongly preferred.

About the Role

Cascadia Healthcare is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting across our large-scale, multi-state healthcare organization.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this executive leadership role is responsible for the integrity of financial reporting, technical accounting, compliance, audit management, internal controls, and accounting operations across a complex multi-entity environment.

This is a unique opportunity for a proven accounting leader who excels in highly regulated, multi-site organizations and is energized by building scalable processes, developing teams, driving automation, and supporting organizational growth.

You will play a critical role in modernizing the accounting function while delivering accurate, timely financial information that supports both executive decision-making and operational performance.

We strongly prefer candidates located in the Boise metro area. Exceptional candidates outside the market may be considered if able to maintain a regular onsite presence, generally one week per month.

What You’ll Do
Lead & Develop the Accounting Organization
  • Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, including managers and functional leaders.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen organizational capabilities, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the CFO and executive leadership team.
Own Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across a complex multi-entity healthcare enterprise.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Oversee technical accounting matters including consolidations, lease accounting, debt reporting, acquisitions, intercompany transactions, and complex ownership structures.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment and lead all audit activities.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and financial stakeholders.
Drive Transformation & Scalability
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives focused on automation, process improvement, and operational efficiency.
  • Optimize ERP systems, reporting tools, and accounting workflows.
  • Reduce manual processes and improve the speed and quality of financial reporting.
  • Build scalable infrastructure to support continued organizational growth.
Support Strategic Growth
  • Partner with the CFO on acquisitions, integrations, reorganizations, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Support due diligence and integration activities related to M&A opportunities.
  • Evaluate accounting implications of growth initiatives and organizational changes.
  • Contribute to enterprise planning and overall business performance discussions.
Support Operational Success
  • Deliver timely, actionable financial information to leaders across the organization.
  • Partner with operations to develop meaningful financial insights, benchmarks, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure field leaders have access to accurate reporting that drives accountability and results.
You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Director of Accounting, or similar senior accounting leader in a large, complex organization.
  • Experience supporting organizations with significant scale, preferably $500M+ to $1B+ in annual revenue.
  • Demonstrated success leading accounting teams within multi-entity, multi-site environments.
  • Healthcare, post-acute care, skilled nursing, senior living, hospital, physician practice, or similarly regulated industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and technical accounting.
  • Experience leading audits and partnering with external auditors, lenders, and advisors.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, organizational growth, and finance transformation initiatives.
  • Strong ERP, systems, and process improvement expertise.
  • Executive-level communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
