The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, experience in transportation or asset-intensive environments, and the ability to build scalable financial processes as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, monthly close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and fixed assets.
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Build departmental and divisional P&Ls.
  • Ensure proper accounting for fleet assets, depreciation, maintenance reserves, and fuel costs.
  • Maintain and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms on annual reviews, audits, and tax filings.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process in partnership with executive leadership and operations.
  • Develop rolling forecasts, cash flow projections, and scenario analyses to support operation and capital planning.
  • Monitor actual results versus budget and forecast, identify variances, and provide clear explanations and recommendations.
  • Support pricing, lane profitability, and cost-per-mile analysis in collaboration with operations and leadership.
  • Provide actionable financial insights related to margins, equipment utilization, driver costs, insurance, fuel, and maintenance.
  • Partner with operations and leadership to evaluate capital expenditures, fleet expansion, and equipment financing decisions.
  • Own the accounting calendar and ensure disciplined, efficient close processes.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting systems, TMS integrations, and reporting tools.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff or outsourced resources, as applicable.
  • Establish scalable processes to support company growth beyond the current revenue level.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the transportation, logistics, or supply chain sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

  • Proven ability to translate financial data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented leader with strong communication and organizational skills.
