Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end close
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and provide commentary on actual vs forecast, budget, prior year
  • Segment income statement reporting
  • Working capital management and improvement
  • Prepare monthly financial forecast and balance sheet and cash flow
  • Prepare annual budgeted financial statements and document assumptions
  • Create reporting to assist senior leaders with business decisions
  • Prepare and analyze activity-based costing and update rates annually
  • Build financial modeling for what-if scenarios
  • Understand capitalized variances and provide recommendations for cost reduction and profit improvement

Job description

The Controller is an integral part of the finance team, specifically responsible for providing support to the Chief Financial Officer by leading the accounting functions at HandyTube (and supporting the accounting functions at Micro-Tube Fabricators), interpreting operating results and making specific recommendations for cost reduction and profit improvement. The Controller will also work closely with the sales, marketing and manufacturing functions with financial analysis and make recommendations to support the business plan; establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies; and support the International Sales efforts through coordinating letters of credit, open line credits, and safeguarding systems to assure minimum liability to the Corporation.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include developing accounting policies to comply with GAAP requirements, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, and management reporting requirements; acting as the primary contact with the organization’s independent auditors on accounting matters; administering general accounting, property accounting, and record retention programs; and directing the preparation of periodic and yearly financial statements, conditions and results in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements. In addition, the Controller will supervise, train and develop the finance staff as needed.

Experience
  • Candidates should possess 7+ years experience in all aspects of accounting, including AP, AR, Payroll, Asset, Cost and General Accounting.
  • Demonstrated 3+ years supervisory experience in an accounting environment.
  • At least 2+ years SOX experience.
  • Experience with QAD or other ERP systems is required.
Education
  • BS in Finance or Accounting is required; MBA is preferred.
  • CPA or CMA is preferred.
