Job summary

Century Group is partnering with a client to recruit a seasoned Controller to oversee accounting operations for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. You will manage month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow across multiple properties and entities.

Required: a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, 10+ years CRE accounting experience, knowledge of financial reporting and property accounting, and experience with CRE accounting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 10+ years of accounting experience, including CRE.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and property accounting principles.
• Experience with CRE accounting platforms and financial management systems.
• Ability to interpret financing agreements and manage lender/investor relationships.

Century Group is partnering with a client that is seeking a Controller to join their team. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Expected starting base salary of $120,000 to $150,000 per year.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and month end close activities for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial performance reporting across multiple properties and entities.
• Review lease agreements, expense recoveries, and operating costs to ensure accurate tenant billing and financial reporting.
• Coordinate lender, investor, and ownership reporting while supporting financing activities, capital projects, and asset level performance reviews.
• Lead and develop accounting staff while implementing process improvements, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 10+ years of accounting experience, including significant experience within commercial real estate environments.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and property accounting principles.
• Previous experience working with commercial real estate accounting platforms and financial management systems.
• Ability to interpret financing agreements, monitor compliance requirements, and manage relationships with lenders and investors.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with office, retail, medical office, or mixed use commercial property portfolios.
• Strong understanding of expense reconciliations, tenant recoveries, lease provisions, and property level financial analysis.
• CPA credential or public accounting experience.
• Previous experience with financial modeling, investment reporting, and complex ownership structures.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment.
