Job summary

SolomonEdwards is seeking a seasoned finance executive to oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems in a high‑instrument environment. The role requires coordinating annual audits, strengthening internal controls, and presenting timely financial statements to leadership.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in budgeting, job cost accounting, cash flow forecasting, and ERP systems such as Great Plains / Microsoft Dynamics, with CPA or MBA preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
  • Progressive accounting/finance leadership experience with audit and budgeting.
  • Proven ability to present financial information to executives and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with large-volume job cost accounting and project-based reporting.

Job description

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt and disbursement of cash.
  • Coordinate the annual audit of our financial statements.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; monitor progress against budget and keep the CFO abreast of financial status.
  • Help leadership in the annual budgeting process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Oversee all financial and job cost accounting; ensure that revenues and expenditure are consistently aligned with specific projects/jobs.
  • Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the operations managers and other departmental leaders.
  • Ensure we are properly accounting for fixed asset acquisitions and disposals.
  • Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Qualifications
  • Mature, experienced leader with a minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Background ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by leadership experience building and managing teams
  • Proven ability to gather, evaluate, present, and report financial information to executive leadership and external stakeholders
  • Experience in job cost accounting environments with a high volume and wide range of project sizes preferred
  • Demonstrated integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to our mission
  • Proactive, hands on strategic thinker who will partner with the CFO and share ownership of the finance function
  • Bachelor’s degree required; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and treasury functions
  • Experience with accounting and reporting systems, including Great Plains General Ledger / Microsoft Dynamics; UKG and CRM experience a plus
  • Highly developed analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability and desire to translate and teach complex financial concepts to both finance and non finance leaders
  • Analyze and implement projects in compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws
