Job summary

Beacon Hill is seeking an experienced Interim Controller in Los Angeles to lead and oversee accounting and finance operations. The role focuses on month-end close, financial reporting, grant accounting, audits, and maintaining strong internal controls.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in accounting with Controller-level leadership, nonprofit experience, and proficiency in GAAP. CPA/MBA preferred, with NetSuite/Concur/Paylocity experience considered a plus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with Controller-level leadership
• Strong nonprofit accounting experience, including grants/contracts
• Proven experience owning the month-end close and financial reporting process
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, audit preparation, budgeting, and general ledger accounting
• Experience leading and developing an accounting team
• Hands-on, solutions-oriented approach with the ability to jump in quickly
• Bachelor's degree required; CPA and/or MBA preferred
• NetSuite, Concur, and Paylocity experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and day-to-day accounting operations
• Manage and provide direction to the accounting and finance team
• Oversee grant accounting, reporting, and compliance for government, corporate, and foundation funding
• Coordinate financial audits and support program-related audits
• Maintain strong internal controls and improve accounting processes and procedures
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning
• Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP
• Support financial systems and process improvements as needed

What You’ll Do
