Job summary

CFS in Bradenton, FL is seeking a Controller to lead all accounting and financial reporting functions, with responsibility for month-end close, audits, and project-based financial reporting. This role requires hands-on leadership and deep expertise in construction accounting and ERP systems.

The ideal candidate will drive process improvements, manage asset accounting and depreciation, and collaborate with executives to optimize financial performance.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of accounting experience with significant exposure to construction accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, retainage, job costing, and project-based financial reporting.
  • Experience owning the preparation and accuracy of financial statements.
  • Prior ERP implementation, conversion, or major systems upgrade experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Own the month-end and year-end close processes, including audit coordination and compliance.
  • Oversee construction accounting activities, including WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, retainage, and project financial reporting.
  • Manage fixed asset and equipment accounting, depreciation schedules, and cost allocations.
  • Partner with executive leadership to improve financial processes and provide operational insights.
  • Serve as the accounting lead for ERP selection, implementation, and ongoing system optimization.
  • Develop and strengthen internal controls, reporting processes, and accounting procedures.
