Job summary

LHH is seeking a Controller to own the financial operations of an active commercial construction project portfolio. This role is embedded with project managers and field leadership, translating job cost data into decisions that shape how projects are built and billed.

You will own full job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, and monthly revenue recognition, working closely with PMs and superintendents on cost tracking and margins.

A well-established commercial construction firm is looking for a Controller to own the financial operations of an active, growing project portfolio. This isn't a back-office numbers role. You'll be embedded with project managers and field leadership, translating job cost data into decisions that actually shape how projects get built and billed.

What you'll own:

• Full job costing and WIP schedules across active commercial projects
• Percentage-of-completion accounting and monthly revenue recognition
• Partnering directly with PMs and superintendents on cost tracking, change orders, and margin management
• Cash flow forecasting tied to project draws and billing cycles
• Month-end close, financial reporting, and audit support
• Building/refining accounting processes as the company scales

What we're looking for:

• Solid construction accounting background including job cost, WIP, percentage-of-completion isn't new to you
• Comfortable in the field as much as behind a desk - this role requires real relationships with project teams, not just clean spreadsheets
• Strong communicator who can translate financials for non-financial stakeholders
• CPA a plus, not required
• Prior Controller or strong Assistant Controller experience in commercial construction
