Job summary

Groundworks New Mexico is seeking a Controller to maximize return on financial assets by establishing policies and controls while ensuring compliance. Responsibilities include financial analysis, budget management, and audit leadership.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience and preferably possesses a CPA. Experience with nonprofit organizations and Sage Intacct is advantageous.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of financial / accounting analysis or related work experience in a financial institution.
• Active CPA designation is preferred.
• Non-profit experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maximize return on financial assets through policies and controls.
• Publish financial statements by the 15th of each month.
• Lead external audits with unqualified opinions.

Overview

The Controller maximizes return on financial assets by establishing policies, controls, and reporting systems while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. Key responsibilities include financial analysis and reporting, budget management, external audit leadership, tax preparation, cash management, treasury, and payroll.

Additional Areas of Responsibility

• Accurate and timely publishing of Homewise’s and subsidiary financial statements by the 15th of each month.
• Unqualified audit opinion with no significant findings or material weaknesses noted.
• Ensuring continued development of team members and cross training for every task.

Other Information

Work may be performed from either our Santa Fe or Albuquerque office.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, mathematics or a related field
• 5+ years of financial / accounting analysis or related work experience in a financial institution.
