Job summary

CE Systems Reliability Coordinator

The Controlled Environment Systems Reliability Coordinator is a key contributor in the Plant Biology Hub that improves the reliability, readiness, and utilization of controlled environments that enable research, seed production, phenotyping, and product development. This role focuses on ensuring growth spaces are user-ready before plant material enters the system, improving operational continuity across room readiness, irrigation, and fertigation, IPM coordination, chemical management, routine inspections, and system sensor checks. The coordinator is accountable for increasing capacity utilization by partnering with planning networks, growers, and research teams to use data, KPIs, and operating insights to improve capacity utilization, room usage, handoffs, and overall controlled environment reliability.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Controlled Environment Systems Reliability Coordinator, are to:

  • Improve operational readiness, continuity, and capacity utilization of controlled environment systems that support growers, research execution, seed production, phenotyping, and product development;
  • Coordinate room readiness, sanitation readiness, scouting readiness, layout readiness, and space turnover checks to ensure user-ready spaces before plant material enters controlled environments;
  • Partner with planners, growers, and research partners to improve capacity utilization, validate CE capacity actuals, enforce schedules, and time limits, and strengthen handoffs from turnover request through user-ready space;
  • Own and coordinate irrigation and fertigation readiness, including fertilizer inventory, stock tank and carboy maintenance, irrigation parts readiness, mobile Dosatron setup, and best-practice alignment to reduce disruption risk;
  • Support CE operational readiness by coordinating with IPM team to ensure timely execution of pest management activities to maintain room readiness to support rapid room turnover;
  • Support chemical and fertilizer management through barcode inventory updates, chemical tracking, OSHA pictogram labeling, and storage readiness to maintain safe, compliant, and auditable operations;
  • Perform or coordinate routine inspections of Dosatrons, irrigation parts, seed processing areas, PB-owned equipment, and facility conditions to identify issues before they become operational disruptions;
  • Support system sensor reliability checks outside Metrology scope, including Argus EC sensor calibration, growth chamber EC calibration, and related system checks that protect environmental reliability and data confidence;
  • Communicate readiness status, operational issues, risk areas, follow-up actions, and stakeholder impacts to growers, planners, facility partners, contractors, and stakeholders with clear accountability;
  • Identify recurring failure points, ownership gaps, and opportunities to simplify workflows, improve service delivery, strengthen operational reliability, and move readiness work from reactive troubleshooting toward proactive prevention.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Experience in controlled environment, greenhouse, agricultural operations, laboratory operations, facilities coordination, or another technical operations environment;
  • Working knowledge of controlled environment systems such as irrigation/fertigation, environmental controls, sensors, sanitation workflows, chemical storage, and routine operational inspections;
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate routine operational systems, vendors or service providers, supplies, inspections, and follow-up actions in a complex technical environment;
  • Ability to work across growers, planners, facility partners, contractors, and technical teams to resolve readiness and reliability issues with urgency and clear accountability;
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, access controls, training expectations, chemical management standards, and site procedures;
  • Strong communication, organization, prioritization, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills;
  • Proven track record of improving operational quality, efficiency, reliability, or service delivery within complex technical or research environments.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $78,640.00 to $117,960.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
