Job summary

RTX’s Physical Sciences & Systems group in Rhode Island seeks a Control Systems and Signal Processing Engineer to develop, test, and deploy algorithms in MATLAB and SIMULINK, prototype capabilities, and support field deployment near Newport.

The role requires a DoD security clearance and a relevant engineering degree with extensive experience. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team, conduct field tests, and deliver technical reports while contributing to national defense objectives.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Physics, or relevant discipline; plus 8 years of experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
• Algorithm development experience in (MATLAB or Python preferred) Physical system modeling experience (SIMULINK preferred)
• Experience with signal processing in application and data processing and analysis
• Experience implementing real-time control system and signal processing algorithms
• Experience with system identification and testing
• Time management, communication, and organizational skills
• Position may require some (5-10%) overnight travel to support field testing and customer interaction at other CONUS locations

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement control systems, signal processing, and physical system representations primarily in MATLAB and SIMULINK
• Lead research and development in technical areas including supporting proposal and program planning efforts
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team testing your contributions and analyzing performance
• Integrate components you develop into a larger system in preparation for real world testing and deployment
• Participate in system testing (on-site and at our customer’s sites), associated data analysis, and reporting
• Author technical reports
• Make a difference to our national defense
