Job summary

Thermo Systems seeks a skilled Lead Control Systems Engineer to manage multi-project control system initiatives, lead start-up and FAT activities, and provide engineering support across teams. You will interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams, specify instrumentation, and drive IT/network readiness for integration.

The role requires proven leadership, deep QMS understanding, and dedication to on-site project execution with periodic travel. Excellent collaboration with clients is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field with relevant experience.
  • Typically 4 years total experience.
  • 2 years as Lead Control Systems Engineer or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform FAT and startup/commissioning of control systems.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs and wiring diagrams; provide field feedback.
  • Specify instrumentation for complex control systems and ensure IT/network readiness for control system integration.
  • Identify and manage project risks and ensure scope adherence.
  • Represent the customer as the main contact on assigned projects and coordinate trades.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science; Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Computer Science or other pertinent curriculum combined withrelevant technical experienceTypically 4 years total experience

Proven Track Record

2 years as Lead Control Systems Engineer or equivalent

Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities

Completely self sufficient in the fieldLead and assist with start up and commissioning of control systemsLead and perform Factory Acceptance Tests FATExperienced in reading and interpreting piping & instrumentation diagrams and wiring diagrams Able to provide feedback regardingfield conditions versus drawingsExperienced with Human Machine Interface HMI and Programmable Logic Controller PLC applicationsDemonstrates deep understanding of the companys Quality Management System QMSProvide review of standard documents generated by others for technical grammatical and aesthetic contentFirm understanding of complex control system designProvide instrumentation specifications for complex control systemsDemonstrate thorough understanding of Information Technology IT system network infrastructure and computer system design as itrelates to control system integration

Project Responsibilities

Complete assigned tasks accurately on schedule and under budgetUnderstand the scope of work assigned to you identify when issues arise that are beyond that scope and communicate those issues tothe assigned project leadLead individual project related tasks andor small to mid sized projects in their entiretyTake on the role of the customers main contact on those projects that the employee is assigned to leadCommunicate in an effective positive and proactive manner with customers and trade partnersAnticipates possible issues that may arise during a project and proactively plans solutionsSeeks opportunities for new work with customers and contractorsDelivers detailed feedback on project and task assignmentsDemonstrates an understanding of project contracts and specificationsAbility to identify and manage risks

Supervisory Responsibilities

Where applicable directs and oversees junior or subordinate staff members regarding construction operations andor maintenancetasks and assignments at a project site

Travel required

Overnight travel may be required up to 50

On Call
