Job Summary:

As a Control Systems Project Engineer, you’ll own technical delivery and quality oversight for Mission Critical data center projects—while also developing, testing, and commissioning PLC/HMI applications.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science; Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or other pertinent curriculum combined with relevant technical experience.
  • 4 + years in control systems engineering, including field exposure.
  • 2+ years in a lead or quality oversight role (Lead CSE, Quality Manager, or similar).
  • Proven success managing QCPs and commissioning scope (FAT/SAT, L1–L3).
Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical & Quality Management:

  • Quality Control Plan: Develop, implement, and maintain the project QCP aligned to client requirements and “The Thermo Way.”
  • On-Site QC: Provide full-time, on-site quality oversight for all shifts; own inspections, corrective actions, documentation, and closeout.
  • Design, develop, and test PLC logic and HMI/SCADA graphics.
  • Configure, integrate, and validate I/O and networks; implement alarms, sequences, and interlocks.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and startup/commissioning (L1–L3).
  • Typical platforms may include Rockwell/Studio 5000, Schneider/Modicon (e.g., M580), AVEVA, and/or Ignition.

Inspections & Non-Conformance:

  • Perform initial, follow-up, specialty, and final inspections; document in ACC Build (or equivalent).
  • Log non-conformances, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), drive corrective/preventive actions, and track closure to priority timelines.
  • Participate in BIM clash-detection/resolution and maintain model updates per the BIM Execution Plan.
  • Serve as QC liaison during commissioning (Levels 1–3), coordinating with third-party agents, field teams, and the owner.

Materials, Installation, and As-Builts:

Verify that materials and field installations conform to approved shop drawings, submittals, and specs.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Archive all QC records—inspection logs, test reports, RCAs, and as-built documentation—for audit readiness.
  • Deliver monthly QC performance reports as part of WIP/forecasting packages.
  • Produce clear, proactive technical communications to customers and trade partners.

Project Engineering & Customer Service:

  • Lead startup/commissioning activities; plan and execute FATs.
  • Interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, instrument specs, and HMI/PLC applications; troubleshoot field issues.
  • Ensure work is performed safely, on schedule, on budget, and to contractual requirements.

Supervisory & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Mentor junior engineers and field technicians on QC processes, commissioning, and PLC/HMI best practices.
  • Coordinate quality/safety integration with the Subcontractor’s Safety Representative and Project Superintendent.
  • Identify risks early, propose mitigation, and surface opportunities for process improvement and additional services.
  • Overnight travel may be required up to 50%.
On Call:
  • On call rotation participation may be required based on location and client needs.
Work Authorization/Other Requirements:
