Job summary

KBR ISA is seeking a Control Systems Engineering Lead to helm the technical and operational leadership of the process control scope for medium to large oil, gas, refining, and petrochemical projects. You will manage DCS, instrumentation, telecommunications, and process analyzers across multi-discipline teams.

The role requires 10+ years in related industries and 5+ years in technical control systems leadership, with a Bachelor’s in Engineering and preferably a PE/P.Eng.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
  • 10+ years in industrial oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industries.
  • 5+ years leading technical control systems teams.
  • Experience developing process control specifications and control system design.
  • Experience leading initiatives and managing suppliers.
  • Experience with DCS, PLC, SIS, and BMS.
  • Experience with instrumentation and electrical schematic drawings.
  • Knowledge of telecoms, cyber security, and process analyzer engineering.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage risks, costs, and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Drive projects from development to execution, managing cost, scope, and schedule.
  • Influence internal and external resources through relationship building.
  • Lead engineering design execution per specifications and standards.
  • Ensure project objectives, including cost and schedule, are met.
  • Budgeting, estimating, forecasting, and reporting of projects.
  • Provide clear scopes of work and construction packages with documentation.
  • Analyze and manage risks on projects.
  • Facilitate safety and constructability reviews.
  • Prepare requisitions for engineered items and spare parts lists.
  • Report on cost and schedule attainment and address issues with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all project documentation is complete.

KBR is looking for a Control Systems Engineering (CSE) Lead who will be responsible for the technical and operation leadership of the process control system scope including DCS, telecommunications, instrumentation, and process analyzer for medium to large oil and gas, refining and petrochemical projects.

Functional job responsibilities
  • Drive projects in various stages, from development to execution, with an eye for managing cost, scope, schedule, and internal reporting requirements
  • Use strong organizational savvy and relationship building skills to influence both internal and external resources
  • Under broad direction, this individual has the responsibility, accountability, and authority to manage the execution of the engineering design in accordance with applicable specifications and standards to achieve project objectives
  • Assures projects meet project objectives, including cost, schedule, and scope
  • Ensures accurate cost budgeting, estimating, forecasting, and reporting of assigned projects
  • Provides clear, accurate scopes of work and construction packages including documentation
  • Analyzes and manages risks on projects
  • Facilitates safety and constructability reviews
  • Creates requisitions for engineered items and development of spare parts list
  • Reports on cost (including forecasting) and schedule attainment
  • Communicates and resolves technical and commercial issues as related to project objectives
  • Successfully communicates with leadership, engineers, designers, document control, procurement, project controls, and all other departments
  • Ensures all project documentation is completed
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 10+ years of industrial oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industries experience
  • 5+ years of experience in technical control systems leadership
  • Experience developing process control specifications and control system design
  • Experience leading initiatives and managing suppliers
  • Demonstrated experience in process control systems and network architectures: DCS, PLC, SIS, BMS
  • Demonstrated experience in instrumentation
  • Experience with electrical schematic drawings, logic diagrams, and panel schedules
  • Knowledge of and exposure to telecoms, cyber security, and process analyzer engineering.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing project challenges.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to ensure project documentation is accurate and up to date.
