Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Control Systems Coordinator/EIT to design and implement advanced process control systems across water, wastewater, and industrial applications.

The role emphasizes process safety, reliability, and efficiency through collaboration with multi-discipline teams. You will contribute to instrumentation selection, testing, and commissioning while leveraging DCS/SCADA platforms and modern engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • EIT certification is preferred.
  • Master's degree in engineering fields is a plus.
  • 6+ years of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be a Control Systems Coordinator/EIT focusing on process controls.
  • Participate in the design of complex industrial process control systems.
  • Contribute to process control design for water/wastewater, solid waste, power and process industries.
  • Perform analyses to develop design options or recommendations.
  • Assist in preparing project deliverables (engineering drawings, cost estimates, specs).
  • Assist with selection and specification of process instrumentation, control panels, and network equipment.
  • Assist with system testing and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate design and construction tasks among teams.
  • Perform routine engineering assignments with standard techniques.
  • Complete projects with clear objectives and limited variables.
  • Work independently on small projects or assist senior engineers and PMs.
  • Provide direction to clerical/tech personnel.

In the role of Control Systems Coordinator/EIT, we'll count on you to:
  • Be a Control Systems Coordinator/EIT that can focus primarily on process controls.
  • Participate in the design of complex industrial process control systems.
  • Participate in process control design for water/wastewater, solid waste, power and process industries.
  • Participate in process, controls, and instrumentation technology assessments and systems evaluations.
  • Conduct analyses to develop chemical or process related design options or recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of project deliverables (examples include engineering drawing packages, cost estimates, and project specifications).
  • Assist with selection and specification of process instrumentation, control panels, and network equipment.
  • Assist with system testing and commissioning activities.
  • Assist with design and construction project coordination tasks and activities.
  • Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more-senior engineers and project managers on larger projects.
  • Give directions to clerical and technical personnel.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Chemical, Nuclear, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Industry experience to include one or more of the following: Water/Wastewater, Solid Waste, Microgrid, Power, Process Industries, Nuclear/Advanced Nuclear, Manufacturing, Buildings.
  • Understanding of PFDs, Heat and Materials Balance, P&IDs, and associated process industries standard design documentation.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
  • 6+ years of experience.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task
  • Knowledgeable of DCS or SCADA platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Modicon, Wonderware, or Ignition
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • May need to travel
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
