Job description

The Control Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of industrial control and automation systems for large-scale capital projects. This role supports the full project lifecycle—from conceptual design and front-end engineering through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and startup—while ensuring systems meet project, client, and regulatory requirements.

The engineer works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and interfaces closely with clients, vendors, and construction teams to deliver robust, safe, and reliable control solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop control system architectures including DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS, and networked control systems
  • Prepare control philosophies, functional descriptions, cause & effect diagrams, and control narratives
  • Design control system hardware including I/O, panels, marshalling, power distribution, and networks
  • Develop and review instrumentation and control (I&C) drawings, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, and wiring details

  • Perform control system sizing, architecture selection, and redundancy analysis
Automation & Software
  • Develop and review PLC, DCS, and SCADA logic and configuration
  • Support HMI graphics design and operator interface philosophy
  • Coordinate FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing)
  • Support system integration between control, safety, and auxiliary systems (e.g., packaged equipment)
Safety & Compliance
  • Support functional safety and process safety activities, including SIS and interlock design
  • Participate in HAZOP, SIL determination, and risk assessment studies as required
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications (ISA, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, etc.)
Execution & Field Support
  • Support construction, installation, commissioning, and startup activities
  • Resolve technical issues during fabrication, installation, and field execution
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and third-party system integrators
Project & Client Interface
  • Collaborate with process, electrical, mechanical, and project engineering disciplines
  • Interface directly with clients to clarify requirements and support technical reviews
  • Support project schedules, cost estimates, and execution plans
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation, or related discipline
  • Experience in industrial control systems within EPC, industrial, or process industries
  • Working knowledge of PLC and DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson, Honeywell, Siemens, Rockwell, Yokogawa)
  • Experience with control system documentation and engineering deliverables
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication networks and protocols
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, project-based environment
