Summary:
  • The Control Room Technician at Pennsylvania Hospital is responsible for monitoring various building systems from a central control center, including Building Automation, Temp Trac, Pneumatic Tube, Medical Gas, Electrical / Low Voltage, Fire Alarm, and Life Safety systems. The technician will accept maintenance service calls after hours, weekends, holidays, and dispatch as needed. They will monitor scheduled utility shutdowns, log fire alarms, incidents, and inform the next shift and Team Leader of the status, completing daily logs and reports. The technician will also act as a point of contact for vendors responding to service calls, logging their arrival and departure.
Responsibilities:
  • OPERATIONS: Monitor BAS for proper operations and make adjustments as needed. Report alarms to mechanics if adjustments cannot be made. Contact Team Leader for follow-up if repairs are needed. Monitor Medical Gas Systems, Pneumatic Tube System, and Nurse Call System, making adjustments or escalating issues as necessary. Receive maintenance service calls after hours, during weekends and holidays. Monitor systems during scheduled utility shutdowns. Check in outside vendors for service repairs. Log all alarms and notify end users if alarms cannot be cleared.
PATIENT AND EMPLOYEE SAFETY:

Participate in initiatives for patient and employee safety. Demonstrate awareness of safety in daily responsibilities. Validation of annual competencies required.

COMMUNICATION:

Communicate effectively with employees, focusing on patient and guest satisfaction and quality of care. Promote successes and performance improvements to meet and exceed expectations.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION:

Develop good relationships with vendors. Ensure patient and customer satisfaction through timely responses. Integrate services within hospital operations to improve patient care.

Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • H.S. Diploma/GED required.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a hospital or large facility required.
  • Trade school completion preferred.
