Job summary

Dyno Nobel is hiring a Control Room Technician to operate the TNT manufacturing process using the DCS and related control systems at our Kentucky plant. The role includes monitoring process parameters, alarms, and deviations while coordinating with Field Operators and Maintenance to ensure safe, compliant operations.

Qualifications

  • Trade School or military training completed.
  • 3+ years' experience in chemical processing.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and process graphics.
  • Knowledge of DCS platforms (Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa, ABB).
  • Willing to pass ATF background check to work with explosives.

Responsibilities

  • Operate TNT manufacturing process via DCS and associated control systems.
  • Monitor alarms, deviations, and process parameters.
  • Coordinate with Field Operators and Maintenance.
  • Maintain logs, shift reports, and process data.
  • Support safety, environmental, quality, and production requirements.
  • Lead plant startups/shutdowns and equipment transitions.

What You’ll Do:

As a Control Room Technician, you will be r esponsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the TNT manufacturing process using the Distributed Control System (DCS) and associated plant control systems. You will monitor and control the production processes, respond to process alarms and deviations, coordinate with Field Operators and Maintenance personnel, and ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, quality, and production requirements. Other duties include:

  • Live and foster the Dyno Nobel Corporate Values
  • Safely operate and monitor the TNT manufacturing process utilizing the Distributed Control System (DCS), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and other computerized process control systems.
  • Monitor process parameters including temperatures, pressures, flows, tank levels, chemical concentrations, and equipment status to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Analyze process trends and make operational adjustments to maintain product quality, process stability, and production targets.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, abnormal operating conditions, and process upsets while initiating corrective actions in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Coordinate daily operating activities with Field Operators to ensure proper equipment operation and process control.
  • Communicate operating conditions, equipment issues, and production priorities with Shift Leaders, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Environmental personnel.
  • Direct and coordinate plant startups, shutdowns, and equipment transitions in accordance with approved operating procedures.
  • Maintain accurate electronic logs, shift reports, production records, operating data, and process documentation.
  • Verify equipment status and process readiness prior to issuing equipment for maintenance activities.
  • Support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and other safe work permitting processes.
  • Monitor plant utility systems and coordinate operational responses to utility interruptions.
  • Assist with troubleshooting process equipment and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation
What We’re Looking For:
  • Trade School or applicable Military Training preferred
  • 3+ years' experience in a chemical processing capacity
  • Ability to listen, understand and process technical data
  • Knowledge of PLC Controlled Systems DCS.
  • Knowledge of Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa, ABB, or similar DCS platforms
  • Ability to interpret process graphics, trends, instrumentation, and operating procedures Ability to work effectively in a high-hazard manufacturing environment.
  • Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosive
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and team player.
