Job summary

PPG is seeking a Control Room Operator in Delaware to manage batch processes across three reactor systems, ensuring accurate records and timely deliveries of materials. You will use GE iBatch, GE iFix, and Allen-Bradley PLCs to control batch recipes, monitor temperatures, and coordinate with QC and finishers on samples and transfers.

This role requires 1+ year of manufacturing experience and means working a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor in process batches in 3 reactor systems.
  • Record status, charge weights, rate feed & temperature data.
  • Work with HMI controls to process batches through the system.
  • Systems are batch recipe controlled through GE iBatch.
  • Control system is managed with GE iFix graphics and Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Some activities required on the production floor.
  • Inspect reactor for cleanliness and empty through sight glass.
  • Drain reflux return loops.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to abnormal situations and device failures.
  • Coordinate with Operators for making manual charges and pulling samples.
  • Review batch recipes reports to determine timing of upcoming charges.
  • In-person meetings, telephone, and 2-way radio communications.
  • Coordinate with Product Finishers on pulling samples and tank transfers.
  • Coordinate with QC Lab on sample results and batch status.
  • Record status of batches in reactor system and batch tanks on information whiteboards.
  • Review production status with Resin Supervisor on shift-by-shift basis.

Job description

As a Control Room Operator, Chemical Manufacturing, you will locate stock and deliver items to their destination upon request. You will ensure incoming deliveries are accurate and stocks supply room with new goods. You will take inventory and identify reorder needs for supervisor approval. You will check order forms, delivery requests, and approval forms to ensure documentation, accuracy, and deliveries. You will report to the Resin Plant Manager.

Qualifications
  • 1 or more years of previous experience
  • Work rotating schedule
  • High school diploma
Schedule

12 hour shifts (Days: 515a-515p or Nights: 515p-515a) Shift change typically requires 10-30 min overlap

2-2-3 Bi-weekly Continuous Operations Schedule 7 days of coverage per 2 week period

Thurs-Friday, Tues-Wed, Saturday-Sun-Mon

8 hours bi-weekly Overtime built in to schedule

Vacation/Sick time coverage required Non-Exempt Salary

Unscheduled coverage is 1.5 Overtime on Weekdays & Saturday

Sunday unscheduled coverage is 2x Overtime
