EthosEnergy in Pittsfield, MA is seeking a Control Room Operator / Licensed 3rd Class Engineer for Pittsfield Generating Station. You will oversee safe, reliable plant operations and manage all on-shift activities from cold starts to emergencies.

The position requires strong troubleshooting, sound judgment and leadership, plus experience with test equipment, calibration appliances and reading P&IDs. Massachusetts 2nd Class Engineers license is required; candidate must pass the license test

Qualifications

• At least 10+ years of direct, related experience
• Experience with health and safety regulations and hazardous energy handling
• Strong troubleshooting, judgment, and leadership
• Ability to pass the 2nd Class Engineers license test within 12 months

Responsibilities

Job Overview

EthosEnergy is hiring a Control Room Operator / Licensed 3rd Class Engineer to join our team at Pittsfield Generating Station in Pittsfield, MA. The approved annual salary range for this position is $110,240–$135,200, based on experience and skill set. In this role, you will be responsible for safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations, managing all on-shift activities from cold starts to emergency situations. Success requires strong troubleshooting skills, sound judgment, and confident leadership in a dynamic operating environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Regularly makes decisions on non-routine or escalated technical issues.
• Independently prioritizes and executes responsibilities effectively for a single trade, group of related tasks or functional area.
• Checks own work and possibly the work of others; work results are of the highest quality standards and advanced technical competency.
• Resolves the most complex technical issues, conferring with Team Leader occasionally; may serve as resource to others in resolution of complex issues.
• Works under limited supervision.
• Prioritizes own weekly schedule and may guide others in the completion of tasks within clearly defined schedules as set by management.
• Regularly provides on-the-job skills training to others in complex technical areas.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Knowledge

• Requires previous experience using test equipment and calibration appliances. Experience with machinery repair and control systems.
• Requires proficiency in reading electrical and mechanical drawings, including P&IDs, Three-line and single-line electrical diagrams, and loop diagrams.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity and mathematics.
• Massachusetts 2nd Class Engineers license

Experience

• Senior-level; generally 10+ years directly related experience including understanding of health and safety regulations, and previous experience working with and around hazardous energy, chemicals and waste materials including knowledge of safe handling, storage, and transport.
• Performs a variety of complex technical service/support duties requiring specialized knowledge.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma, degree from technical/vocational school, military service or equivalent.
• Ability to pass the test for 2nd Class Engineers license within 12 months of hire

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop and lift (up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
• Ability to work on shifts, off hours and holidays, and respond to call outs.
