Job summary

Sprague Resources is seeking a Control Room Operator (2nd Class Engineer) at Westminster, MA. The role oversees day-to-day plant operation, monitoring instrumentation and control interfaces to ensure safe, reliable power generation.

The CRO must understand mechanical, electrical and instrumentation/controls systems, operate PLC-based controls, and support maintenance teams while maintaining stringent safety standards.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts 2nd Class Engineer License is required.
• Power plant operations or maintenance experience is required.
• 1–2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of boilers, gas burners, turbines and water treatment.
• Basic math and data entry skills; good verbal communication.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Start-up, operate, shut down and secure equipment from the control room or in the field.
• Troubleshoot and assist with maintenance activities.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures and safety protocols.
• Complete plant rounds and inspections; maintain logs.
• Monitor water chemistry testing and chemical dosing within limits.
• Supervise or assist contractors; coordinate with maintenance and management.
• Develop and maintain operating procedures.
• Respond to process upsets; communicate decisions to team.
