Job summary

Engineering Specialists, Inc. seeks a Control Panel Shop Lead to guide assemblers and technicians on complex panel projects. You will ensure quality, meet schedules, and provide an exceptional customer experience while coordinating with Production, Purchasing, and Quality teams.

Travel up to 15% to customer sites may be required. Strong schematic reading and lean manufacturing experience are preferred; this role offers a robust benefits package and full-time employment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in building and wiring industrial control panels.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel to other work locations.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy, to include use of Microsoft Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a team of Assemblers and Technicians for assigned projects.
  • Act as liaison between the customer and Production team for assigned projects.
  • Ensure consistent quality across projects and manage projects within estimated hours.
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of our projects to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Manage and track resources to ensure project is on track to meet due date.
  • Review BOM for accuracy prior to releasing to purchasing.
  • Build and wire complex industrial control panels from start to finish by following electrical schematics within allotted project hours and by due date.
  • Layout, drill, punch, tap, and mounting of components in sheet metal enclosures; route wires and cables neatly according to standards.
  • Identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Escalate quality concerns to the Technical Quality Lead and/or customer.
  • Escalate manpower needs to the Production Manager.
  • Escalate material concerns to the Purchasing department and/or Production Manager.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of cell based 6S weekly.
  • Improve quality and personal productivity on a continuous basis.
  • Conduct field service work at customer locations (travel up to 15%).
  • Follow safety protocols, work regulations and 6S guidelines.
  • Maintain reliable and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in building and wiring industrial control panels.
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Must hold valid driver’s license with ability to travel to other work locations.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy, to include use of Microsoft Outlook.
Preferred Education, Experience and Licensing Requirements:
  • 2 year degree in automation or electrical related field.
  • Previous experience in working in a lean manufacturing environment.

Work Environment:

Work environment is light industrial, with exposure to a moderate level of noise. Daily operations in work environment includes the use of basic power tools, hand tools, and repetitive hand motion in manipulating electrical wires. Sitting, standing, and bending at waist for up to 3 consecutive hours at time. May need to reach above shoulder height for extended periods of time. May be exposed to fumes and airborne particles. Must be able to climb stairs, move freely between aisles of parts, equipment, shelving units. Must be able to carry or lift at least 40 pounds.
