Job description

Engineer the intelligence behind industrial water recycling

You'll take the lead on the electrical, automation, and instrumentation that make industrial water recycling systems think, move, and protect themselves in the real world.

From sand and aggregate mining to municipal and energy applications, your control strategies will directly drive how critical process equipment performs, recycles, and recovers.

You won't just "tweak code." You'll conceive, design, and program complete automation systems for complex dewatering and bulk material handling processes.

If you live in PLCs, HMIs, and real-world I/O - and want to see your systems run in the field - this is where you step up.

If you've built industrial control systems and want more ownership, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Work On

You'll be embedded in an OEM engineering team focused on industrial water recycling and material processing systems:

  • Industrial electrical systems for water recycling equipment
  • Instrumentation and control packages for process applications
  • Dewatering and bulk material processing and transport technologies
  • Low and medium voltage switchgear for OEM equipment
  • Control panels, starter panels, and automation systems
  • PLC, HMI, and SCADA-based automation architectures
  • Electrical and controls support for sales proposals
  • Commissioning, troubleshooting, and site support at customer facilities

You'll be working with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, AutoCAD, and a mix of analog and digital instrumentation including 4-20 mA circuits.

Your core challenge: turn demanding industrial processes into reliable, testable, supportable automation systems that run in harsh environments.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Design and develop electrical systems and instrumentation packages for industrial OEM equipment
  • Conceive, develop, and program automation systems for process applications
  • Define and design dewatering and bulk material processing and transport control solutions
  • Design and select appropriate low and medium voltage switchgear
  • Conduct shop testing of control panels, starter panels, and automation systems before shipment
  • Verify that designs comply with engineering principles, business standards, and product requirements
  • Create innovative, practical control solutions that meet project objectives and constraints
  • Document technical data in line with engineering policies and procedures
  • Serve as a key technical resource for automation-related questions across the organization
  • Collaborate directly with customers and suppliers on technical requirements and solutions
  • Travel domestically to commission systems and troubleshoot issues at client sites
  • Support sales and marketing by contributing to automation and controls content in proposals
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Controls, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 1-3+ years of hands‑on experience in PLC and HMI programming, SCADA development, and/or control panel design
  • Background in PLC programming, relay control logic, and HMI programming
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for reviewing schematics, specifications, and drawings
  • Solid analog and digital circuit design skills including 4-20 mA circuits
  • Hands‑on experience with electrical engineering tools and test equipment
  • Experience in component selection and qualification for control and starter panels
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail in an industrial environment
  • Clear communicator and team player able to work with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities effectively
The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention

You've taken ownership of industrial control systems from concept to commissioning, and you're comfortable both in front of a screen and on a plant floor. You can read a P&ID, sketch a panel, write the PLC logic, build the HMI interface, and then stand in front of the equipment to make it all behave.

The ideal candidate is equally at home reviewing AutoCAD drawings, tuning 4-20 mA loops, and walking a customer through a troubleshooting sequence on-site.

Why This Opportunity?

You're not a tiny piece of a massive system here - you are the electrical and controls lead for real industrial equipment used across multiple sectors, from mining to municipal to energy.

You'll work directly with an Automation & Controls Manager who knows the work, and you'll see the full life cycle: design, test, ship, commission, troubleshoot.

On top of the technical challenge, you get solid stability: paid vacation and sick time, company-paid health insurance for employees, and optional benefits including 401(k), dental, short & long-term disability, life insurance, and cancer insurance.

Work location is in-person in Louisville, KY.

Position requires approximately 25-35% domestic travel for site visits, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
