About the Job

DK Security is seeking qualified professionals to join our Central Control team as Shift Supervisors. While employees are hired and employed by DK Security, they are assigned to Central Control, the Security Operations Center supporting State of Michigan facilities. Shift Supervisors lead DK Security personnel assigned to their shift, coordinate daily operations with Central Control leadership, and help ensure the team provides reliable, professional service.

DTMB Central Control is a 24/7/365 operation that monitors security and life safety systems and coordinates emergency response for DTMB-managed properties. It also serves as a central point of contact for agency security information and requests. Shift Supervisors oversee their team’s monitoring of security and life safety systems, response initiation, camera monitoring, emergency communications, and coordination with agency partners. They help ensure staff follow post orders and established procedures, provide after-hours support to building operations, maintain security equipment readiness through cleaning, inventory, and testing, and complete accurate shift briefings and reports.

Military veterans and people with security, firefighting, corrections, or law enforcement experience are encouraged to apply.

Keys to Shift Supervisor success:

  • Be computer literate and able to use standard office software.
  • Set a professional example through appearance, conduct, and communication.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service, phone, and interpersonal skills.
  • Lead calmly during emergencies, support de-escalation, and help staff respond effectively.
  • Assign and monitor work, coach team members, and reinforce post orders and job duties.
  • Communicate clearly with Central Control leadership and provide complete shift briefings.
  • Use sound judgment, maintain attention to detail, and promote accuracy and accountability across the team.

Common Duties Include:

  • Lead and support the Central Control team during the assigned shift; clarify priorities, assign duties, and monitor completion of required tasks.
  • Receive, assess, and oversee the processing of emergency information and requests, including medical emergencies, threats of violence, suspicious activity or packages, fire, and weather emergencies.
  • Ensure emergency response efforts are initiated in accordance with available information, established procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate response efforts and information sharing with law enforcement, emergency dispatchers, firefighters, medics, security guards, facilities supervisors, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor security systems and cameras, and ensure they are used effectively to support response and situational awareness.
  • Prepare or review emergency communications, incident documentation, shift briefings, and after-action reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coach team members, address performance or procedural concerns, and elevate significant issues to Central Control leadership.
  • Ensure assigned security equipment is cleaned, inventoried, tested, and ready for use.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Intermediate computer skills required – comfortable with Microsoft Office, email, and the internet, and able to learn new software.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.1067 §17(2).
