Job summary

Lucas County Youth Treatment Center is seeking a night-shift Security Monitor to ensure the safety of staff, residents and guests. You will monitor video feeds, manage access, and maintain accurate logs and incident reports.

The role requires adherence to court policies, professional conduct, and the ability to handle crisis situations with calm, confidential handling of information. Strong communication and multitasking are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • At least 6 months of relevant work experience preferred; court/juvenile justice experience desirable.
  • Must possess basic computer/keyboard skills and ability to read/write routine documents.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Youth Treatment Center via video monitors and logs as outlined.
  • Greet visitors, monitor access doors and direct calls as needed.
  • Prepare incident reports and maintain logs of receipts, logs and other records.
  • Comply with court policies, procedures and safety regulations at all times.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and training as assigned.

Job description

Provides for the security and safety of staff, residents and guests of the Youth Treatment Center by assuming responsibility for the control booth area and all monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

Court Expectations of Employee:

Adheres to Court Policy and Procedures

Acts as a role model both within and outside the Court

Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships

Maintains a positive and respectful approach both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Court

Performs duties as workload necessitates in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and is conscientious about assignments meeting Department productivity standards

Communicates regularly with supervisor about Department issues

Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload

Consistently reports to work on time, prepared to perform duties of position meeting Court attendance standards

Essential Job Functions:

Comply with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.

Adheres to established safety procedures, monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.

Monitors activity in the Youth Treatment Center via video monitors and records activities per outlined procedure.

Monitors the movement and care of youths and documents same in Com. Log.

Monitors emergency systems equipment, reporting any problems with same to appropriate staff, per procedure.

Receives visitors and notifies appropriate staff; monitors access doors and admits individuals.

Documents maintenance needs on provided logs per procedure.

Briefs oncoming shift relief with general updates and all abnormal situations that have occurred during assigned shift.

Maintains control of key lock box and distribution key log.

Prepares incident reports as necessary.

Maintains a clean and orderly work area logs, receipts, token logs and other required written records.

Answer telephones and greet visitors, providing information and assistance while identifying yourself in a pleasant and positive manner.Direct calls appropriately and/or take and deliver accurate messages while taking responsibility for helping the caller.

Prepares memorandum, correspondence and other job related documents using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.

Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Reads e-mail and follows directives.

Attends mandatory staff meetings and training as assigned.

Provides assistance to other personnel as needed.

Contacts appropriate emergency law enforcement personnel in the event of a crisis situation.

All other duties as assigned.

Language Skills:

Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of advisory data and information such as financial statements, technical operating manuals, statutes, procedures, guidelines and routine and non-routine correspondence.

Ability to write routine and non-routine reports and business correspondence.

Must write legibly.

Mathematical Skills:

Requires the ability to perform basic arithmetic, including the ability to calculate percentages and decimals.

May require the ability to perform mathematical operations with fractions and compute discounts.

Reasoning Ability:

Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria.

Requires the ability to apply and carryout instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Requires the ability to independently problem solve.

Requires the ability to cope with situations that involve an elevated stress level while dealing with crisis situations.

Physical Demands:

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort, to include the ability to walk (to include up and down multiple flights of stairs), stoop, bend, kneel, use hands, move objects, reach, push and pull on a regular basis.

Tasks may required the employee to occasionally lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing from five to ten pounds.

Frequently requires using hands and fingers to operate computer keyboards and office equipment.

Must be able to hear and also talk in a clear and concise manner.

Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Tasks are regularly performed in safe and comfortable surroundings without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Qualifications

Education/Training: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Experience/Knowledge/Background: At least six (6) months relevant work experience preferred; or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience in Court or Juvenile Justice systems is highly desirable.

Skills: Must possess basic computer/keyboarding skills. Must be able to read and interpret various routine and non-routine documents.

Appearance/Personality: Customer service, courtesy, professional business demeanor and presentation are critical. Due to the personally sensitive nature of information in this area, confidentiality is essential. Must have the ability to work well with a diverse group of people.

Special Requirements: Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age; have a valid driver's license; and submit to a pre-employment screening, a criminal record check and in-depth reference check. Must be able to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
