Job summary

Delta Electronics Americas seeks a Control & Automation Engineer with experience in PLC programming and industrial control applications, preferably in the power and energy sector. The role focuses on developing and maintaining control software, integrating controllers with field devices, and ensuring robust testing and commissioning of systems.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with IEC 61131-3, Structured Text, and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850);

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Controls Engineering (or related) with 5+ years of experience; or Master’s with 2+ years; or PhD.
• Experience in control software development and PLC programming is required.
• Experience with power and energy systems and industrial automation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain control software using IEC 61131-3, especially Structured Text.
• Develop control logic including state machines, sequencing, interlocks, alarms, and equipment coordination.
• Integrate industrial controllers with field devices and supervisory systems.
• Implement and troubleshoot protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850; support testing and commissioning.

Control & Automation Engineer

We are seeking a Control & Automation Engineer with experience developing PLC and industrial control applications, preferably within the power and energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain control software using IEC 61131-3, particularly Structured Text (ST).
• Develop control logic including state machines, sequencing, interlocks, alarms, and equipment coordination.
• Integrate industrial controllers with field devices and supervisory systems.
• Implement and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850.
• Support testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

• Substation or utility automation
• Power system protection and control
• Microgrids
• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
• Renewable energy integration
• SCADA / EMS
• Power-system controls research or laboratory work

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with SEL RTAC controllers.
• Experience with SEL-3555 or similar SEL platforms.
• Experience with SEL development and configuration tools.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or
• Master’s degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or
• PhD in a related field.

Candidates with relevant academic or research experience in power and energy systems are encouraged to apply, even if they have limited industry experience.
